General Position Summary

The Sr. Communications Professional will work in a dynamic, high-tech environment. This position provides ongoing communications support for the ITS Division as well as project management for a wide range of communications initiatives. The individual is responsible for the development and implementation of communications strategies, plans and programs. These efforts will involve internal communications, external and stakeholder communications, executive communications (including speech writing) and strategic creative services capabilities aligned with PJM’s goals and objectives. The Sr. Communications Professional will enhance the positive reputation of PJM through positive stakeholder relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consult with leadership, the internal communications manager and subject matter experts to develop and support strategies, key messages and vehicles for communications to lead and support specific PJM initiatives.
  • Directs and supports a wide variety of ITS-related communications activities, including communications counsel and strategic messaging for the ITS senior vice president and directors.
  • Manages large, multi-dimensional communications projects by developing strategies, coordinating resources and implementing plans effectively.
  • Research, write and edit articles, internal/external publications, speeches and other collateral designed for various stakeholders.
  • Act as back up to PJM Post editors and posters.
  • Demonstrates integrity in decision-making and in providing services.
  • Demonstrates persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Effectively deals with ambiguity to arrive at sound, logical decisions.
  • Maintains an exceptional level of customer focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic liaison between internal clients and creative services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight, multiple and changing deadlines.
  • Creates metrics for the effectiveness of systems and programs after implementation.

Characteristics and Qualifications

Required

  • BA, Communications or Journalism
  • At least 5 years of experience relevant professional communications experience.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
  • Ability to visualize and solve complex problems
  • Experience using effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience in Business Writing
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint)


Preferred

  • MA,
  • Experience with Information Technology and familiarity with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
