General Position Summary

An (Sr.) Analyst/Engineer in Operation Analysis & Compliance assures the reliable, economic, and coordinated operation of the PJM Interconnection in accordance with PJM Operating Principles and Standards and applicable Regional and NERC Operating Policies. The (Sr.) Analyst/Engineer, Operation Analysis & Compliance supports this mission by assembling and analyzing key power system data, provide subject matter expertise in markets and operations enhancements, application development and represent PJM at internal and external forums. Key activities include the following:

• Develop, analyze and report various statistical/analytical data for internal and external entities.

• Provide analysis of the electric power grid across many areas of RTO operations and recommend changes or enhancements to PJM and NERC policies and procedures.

• Develop performance metrics for RTO performance goals and develop the associated measurement application and reporting process.

* Ensure PJM is compliance with Regulatory standards and requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support activities to achieve Operation and Market Performance excellence which include: Data gathering and big data analysis, compliance monitoring, business, operation and technical enhancement recommendations, application development and cross organization functional support. support .
  • Execute daily, monthly and annual reports for PJM grid, market operations and external regulatory entities.
  • Coordinate activities necessary in the acquisition, maintenance, and calculation of data necessary to provide reporting services.
  • Participates in PJM System Restoration Drills and the PJM Emergency Procedures Drills.
  • Contributes to large and complex assignments that supports PJM corporate goals and regulatory directives.
  • Analyzes existing operating procedures, incidents and analysis methods, financial markets/services and promotes the development of new methods and the introduction of improved and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinates the development of recommendations based on detailed knowledge of engineering industry criteria, practices, and government regulations for the assessment, development, and implementation of new bulk power operating programs, procedures, and policies.
  • Conducts special studies in order to develop and recommend new or revised bulk power methods, procedures, or policies.
  • Provides support to activities of PJM or industry committees or task forces involving issues related to bulk power operations, operating arrangements and government regulations.
  • Prepares reports and presentations as necessary to support activities associated with Operations, Market Services and State & Member Service divisions.

Characteristics and Qualifications

Required

  • BS, Engineering, Computer Science, Business or equivalent work experience
  • 0-5 years of experience Engineer/Analyst
  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support


Preferred

  • MS, Engineering or At least 8 years of experience Sr. Engineer/Sr. Analyst
  • At least 8 years of experience Sr. Engineer/Sr. Analyst
  • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
  • Experience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)
