  • General Position Summary

    The Sr. (Lead) Analyst is responsible for working with PJM business and technical stakeholders to define, implement, and maintain PJM’s master data management business needs to enable master data mapping of key business dimensions between business systems. The Sr. (Lead) Analyst drives the discovery, analysis and overall management of the assigned projects and initiatives. The Sr. (Lead) Analyst must possess sufficient knowledge and experience to understand the modeling practices in different PJM systems and drive success of PJM’s data management initiatives and projects.


    The Sr. (Lead) Analyst is a key member of the data management team, which coordinates data ownership and management activities across the organization for consistency and leverage. The team drives this coordination by establishing standards for how data owners and related initiatives (projects) execute their activities and how they communicate their actions to their peers and data consumers, and upward to the information governance board. The team is also responsible for owning data publication tools used to release data to stakeholders. The Sr. (Lead) Analyst also helps PJM data owners to interpret policies created by the board with the goal of establishing clarity and quality in policy enactment, as well as consistent business requirements in data initiatives and projects.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Customer Solution - Understand the development needs of the business units and establish a positive, service-oriented relationship by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data systems
    • Define, implement, and maintain solutions to enable management of master data across PJM business units and systems
    • Apply data analysis techniques in the context of data management initiatives and projects owned or coordinated by the team to drive success of PJM’s data management initiatives and projects
    • Analyze, understand, and harmonize master data modeling in disparate systems
    • Independently schedule, organize and facilitate (run) meetings with clients, technology SMEs, business SMEs, data owners and other internal business stakeholders
    • Develop and maintain high quality documentation, such as requirements documents, data flow diagrams and other project / initiative documentation as needed
    • Implement and maintain controls and organization on work products, including security requirements, using PJM document management and collaboration systems to support availability to appropriate staff, and efficient and effective retention and retrieval of work products for project use through all project phases into ongoing support
    • Apply facilitation and conflict resolution skills to assist in resolving the different points of view and requirements that invariably collide during cross-team and cross organization efforts
    • Assist data management team and department management in developing work plans, including scope, milestones, schedule, releases, resources and deliverables
    • Gain and maintain an in-depth understanding of how master data is used within business processes and its impact on desired business process outcomes and on PJM members and stakeholders
    • Understand and apply the security, privacy and quality requirements for critical data entities
    • Demonstrate and apply a deep and comprehensive understanding of the importance and impact of data (or bad data) on the ability of the business to meet its own objectives
    • Build and develop strong relationships with clients and data stakeholders by providing superior customer support as demonstrated by clearly owning, resolving and communicating issues and problems, and being responsive to needs, requirements, and deadlines
    • Cultivate visibility and respect from all levels of the organization; must have credibility and track record of success in the business
    • Communicate effectively with people at all organizational levels, from clerical positions to senior management team
    • Prioritize work to produce maximum results in order to meet short deadlines and deliverables
    • Collaborate with information governance board members to receive and understand policy directives
    • Assist data owners in interpreting policy requirements.
    • Assist in consolidated reporting into the data governance board

    Characteristics and Qualifications


    • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering or Information Systems
    • At least 4 years experience with projects where data management, data integration, data publication was a primary or significant focus of the effort
    • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
    • Ability to analyze and understand tables, data, and structures contained in relational databases
    • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
    • Experience in quantitative and qualitative


    • MBA
    • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
    • Experience supporting any of PJM Committees
