  • General Position Summary

    This position provides direct support on key strategic matters to PJM’s state regulatory and legislative function.
    The Analyst will convert highly technical material on energy policy, engineering, and market design into understandable information for varied audiences. The Analyst will assist the PJM state regulatory function with written communications (internal and external), data gathering and analysis, strategic communication efforts, interfacing with internal and external customers, and all aspects of supporting the Regulatory Committee of the PJM Board.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support the PJM state regulatory team’s processes and help drive process improvement efforts across the group.
    • Support coordination and tracking efforts for the respective state Manager, Reg/Legislative Affairs with on-going state policy workshops, including: attending meetings, leading discussions of issues, engaging in direct interface with state policymaker constituents, and developing status reports and analysis. Monitor the policy landscape for information that could inform and/or impact RTO policy.
    • Build and maintain relationships with internal customers to collaborate on key issues and to stay abreast of key matters/issues impacting the business.
    • Advise PJM staff working on RTO policy projects of state regulatory perspectives and interests, including shaping PJM’s messaging and outreach strategy.
    • Convert highly technical material on energy policy into understandable information for varied audiences, including: Presentations, talking points, background information, RTO policy papers and meeting materials.
    • Represent PJM state regulatory team on applicable internal committees, informing the team of relevant information arising from the activities of the committee.
    • Support outreach efforts to state commissions and other state agencies, including attending meetings, presentation/discussion of issues, and other direct interface with those constituents. (The travel expectation is not anticipated to exceed 20%.)
    • Demonstrate and utilize in-depth analytical processes for data collection, organization and summarization of enterprise wide information as well as PJM state regulatory specific.
    • Review and analyze trends pertinent to the energy industry with the ability to communicate key issues and findings to the appropriate party.
    • Support Cera file management for State Government Policy which may have sections which may be shared with other PJM departments.
    • Timely and efficiently respond to requests for information/support from internal and external customers.
    • Support the Regulatory Committee of the PJM Board.
    • Maintain the Department/Division goal status report.
    • Participate in the on-call rotation to support the SGP protocol for emergency procedures.
    • Assist team with all materials, reports, meetings and events as required.

    Characteristics and Qualifications

    Required

    • BA, Business Administration, Economics or  equivalent work experience
    • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
    • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
    • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
    • Experience using verbal and written communications skills
    • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint)


    Preferred

    • MBA, Business Administration
    • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
    • Experience supporting any of PJM Committees
