In harmony with the PJM vision and mission, the (Sr.) Training Technology Coordinator supports the overall goals of the State & Member Training Department. Special focus of this position is on supporting and coordinating the support for a wide array of training technology and simulators employed by the department.
State and Member Training Department is responsible for implementing many training events each year. These take many forms, including large and small classroom, drills, workshops, and a large multi-week annual seminar. Delivery methods utilized at training events include lecture, well-developed exercises/examples, and hands-on demonstrations that employ computers, computer networks, A/V, along with other specialized software and equipment to varying degrees. Synchronous and asynchronous online training is also produced and delivered utilizing various technologies.
The use of sophisticated simulators that replicate real-time operations as well as day ahead and real-time market operations are a growing part of the State & Member Training curriculum. This is to satisfy regulatory requirements as well as to achieve other department pedagogy and member satisfaction goals.
Ensuring the proper functioning of the training technology employed, especially the market and operations simulators, requires coordinated support internal to the department, across many other PJM support departments, as well as with external vendors. The (Sr/Lead) Training Technology Coordinator takes the lead in this effort, performing or coordinating the many tasks leading up to the event in a way that is organized, efficient, and in harmony with department standards. They are the main point of contact for all the departments training technology and associated equipment.
Training audiences include participants who are responsible for system reliability and market operations. This training must meet the requirements of the NERC CEH Program, NERC PER Standards, along with PJM’s training and certification requirements outlined in Manual 40. Additional audiences include regulatory and government entities, and other member and non-member participants. All training must meet the accreditation standard of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
The (Sr.) Training Technology Coordinator helps ensure the unique needs/requirements of each type of event are met. They will also work collaboratively with other department staff to process requests received for specialized or custom training from members, non-members, and international participants. Coordination responsibilities will be for all training onsite at PJM’s Conference and Training Center (CTC) along with training conducted offsite, requiring travel. This position will report to the Manager of State & Member Training.
